Wisconsin County
Mutual Insurance Corporation Presents 2002 Loss Prevention Award
to Local Sheriff's Departments
The Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance
Corporation (County Mutual) recognized sheriff's departments
from around the state recently with the Loss Prevention Awards
for having few claims in their respective counties in 2002.
The annual awards were presented to only 15
counties statewide out of the 55 County Mutual member counties.
These 15 counties were recognized for low losses in the claim
year 2002. The counties include:
- Bayfield County
- Buffalo County
- Forest County
- Green County
- Iowa County
- Iron County
- Jackson County
- Lafayette County
- Marquette County
- Pepin County
- Price County
- Richland County
- Vernon County
- Washburn County
"These loss prevention awards highlight the
hardworking partnership between member counties and the County
Mutual and we are proud to present them to these sheriff's
departments," said Wisconsin Counties Association Director of
Insurance Operations Jon Hochkammer. "These counties have
diligently focused on risk prevention and due to their efforts,
the county sheriff's employees have a secure environment to work
in and the citizens of these counties are safer because of their
efforts."
In addition to providing comprehensive
liability insurance, the Wisconsin County Mutual offers a wide
array of services to its 55 member counties. Some of these
services include highway rodeos, defensive driving training,
safety newsletters, loss control incentive programs and an
extensive library of risk prevention videos.
"These 15 counties' effective risk management
efforts are to be commended and demonstrate our member counties'
commitment to the County Mutual's claims philosophy," said John
Dirkse, Executive Vice President of Aegis Corporation, which
administers the County Mutual. "Especially in these tight fiscal
times, we have once again proven the partnership between
counties and the County Mutual works very well, saves taxpayer
dollars and results in safer communities."
The Wisconsin Counties Association, along with
county officials from around the state, created the Wisconsin
County Mutual Insurance Corporation in 1987 to provide quality
liability insurance substantially at cost to its members. To
offer the benefits of the County Mutual to municipalities,
Community Insurance Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of
the County Mutual, was created in 2002. For more information,
