County Mutual Re-Introduces Advanced Law Enforcement Risk Training (A.L.E.R.T) Program;
Led by Milwaukee P.D. Veteran Bruce Scott
The Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation (County Mutual) announced today they have contracted with Bruce J. Scott of Custom Confidential, LLC to re-introduce the successful Advanced Law Enforcement Risk Training (A.L.E.R.T.) program and plan curriculum for it.
The goal of the A.L.E.R.T. program is to provide focused risk management training for the County Mutual’s 55 member counties’ law enforcement departments. The program provides additional training activities designed to enhance the exhaustive training the law enforcement community already receives. In addition, A.L.E.R.T. addresses policies and procedures for loss generating areas from law enforcement activities that could, with focused training, be reduced.
Mr. Scott, a 29-year veteran of the Milwaukee Police Department, has a very diverse background in law enforcement and as a result was selected to meet with County Mutual member law enforcement departments to discuss current training efforts to ensure the A.L.E.R.T. program provides the type of training desired.
Prior to retiring in December of 2006 from the Milwaukee Police Department, Mr. Scott served District Five, located in the northeast sector of Milwaukee, assigned as the Community Liaison Officer for the past nine years. As Community Liaison Officer, Mr. Scott was responsible for assessing the needs of area residents as well as the business community and solving problems that were indigenous to them. Prior to this last assignment, Mr. Scott was assigned to street patrol both in uniform and plainclothes.
“We are thrilled to have Mr. Scott on board to lead the A.L.E.R.T. program and believe his extensive law enforcement experience will make this training imperative for all member departments,” said John Dirkse, executive vice president of Aegis Corporation, the general administrator of the County Mutual. “Our law enforcement departments face real risk every day on many fronts and we feel honored to work with them to keep safety as a foremost goal in their jobs.”
In addition to the seminar format of the A.L.E.R.T. program, Mr. Scott will be available, on a consulting basis, as a service to member law enforcement departments.
Mr. Scott can be contacted directly to discuss training needs or any other departmental issues at:
