Wood Co. Board Chair Pliml Elected to County Mutual Board of Directors

Wood County Board Chairman Lance Pliml was elected recently as a north central district representative to the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation (County Mutual) Board of Directors.

“I believe Chairman Pliml’s experience as a small business owner, as well as his strong track record in serving county government, will make him an outstanding representative on the County Mutual Board,” said WCA Director of Insurance Operations Jon Hochkammer. “I believe he will be a valuable member and he will be able to make immediate contributions in helping member counties control their insurance costs.”

A resident of the Town of Grand Rapids, Chairman Pliml has served on the Wood County Board since 1998 and was elected board chairman in April of 2006. He sits on numerous committees and boards, including chairman of the Wood County Emergency Management Committee. He also serves on the Wood County Human Resources Committee, and the Finance and Budget Committee. In addition, he is the co-chairman for the Aging and Disability Resource Center Consortium.

“I am excited about the opportunity to serve on the County Mutual Board of Directors and as a longtime small business owner, I look forward to working with my peers from around the state to represent member counties in a fiscally responsible manner,” said Pliml.

The Wisconsin Counties Association, along with county officials from around the state, created the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation in 1987 to provide quality liability insurance substantially at cost to its members. Today, three-quarters of the 72 counties in the state are covered by the County Mutual, which has an A.M. Best rating of A-.

In addition to providing comprehensive liability insurance, the County Mutual offers a wide array of services to member counties. Some of these services include loss control incentive programs, safety newsletters and educational seminars on a wide variety of topics, such as defensive driving, worker’s compensation, and excavation and trenching safety.

“Chairman Pliml’s experience in both the public and private sector will serve this organization well,” said John A. Dirkse, Executive Vice President of Aegis Corporation, which acts as the general administrator of the County Mutual. “We look forward to working with him to impact counties and the taxpayers of Wisconsin.”

Chairman’s Pliml’s term runs through 2008. For more information, visit www.wisconsincountymutual.org.
