Financial Strength
The County Mutual began operations with $1.4
million in surplus contributed by the counties to support the
program. As the earned surplus grew, all of the funds
contributed by the counties to support the County Mutual were
returned to the counties. Currently, the County Mutual maintains
approximately $14 million in earned surplus to support its
programs and services.
Further, the County Mutual's gross written
premium increased from $1.5 million in 1988 to $8.1 million in
1999 and the net written premium grew $1.5 million to $5.8
million, respectively.
