Late in the day on June 14, 2011, the Supreme Court overturned Dane County Circuit Judge Sumi's decision to enjoin implementation of the Budget Repair Bill, 2011 Wisconsin Act 10 (the "BRB"). In the meantime, the Assembly has taken up amendments to the Budget Bill that would not only incorporate the provisions within the original BRB, but make some significant changes to the WRS, health insurance and collective bargaining rules within the BRB.
WCA's general counsel Phillips Borowski, S.C. has published an initial document regarding the June 14th decision and the immediate and potential future impacts of the amendments currently working their way through the Legislature. Read more here.
Phillips Borowski will continue to analyze the legislation as it proceeds through the Assembly and Senate. They also anticipate providing an analysis of the Supreme Court’s decision and resulting implementation issues related to the BRB.
